*** NEWSFLASH *** we have recently made great progress with GEMS ECU communication.  Details and proof-of-concept pictures can be found here

Please note that this website is still very much in development, therefore pages may come & go, links may temporarily be broken or new features may suddenly appear.

Apologies for the delay in the forum release and current lack of login facility.  We are currently in the process of moving to a new hosting company who will hopefully be able to offer the services we require.

Best regards,
Chris.

Project Assistance Wanted

Print PDF

Assistance with this project is now being sought.  In particular any previous experience of automotive diagnostic protocols, especially Land Rover related, would be most welcome.  We are almost ready to release our prototype but would be grateful of any help towards the final push.  We will also be looking for a small number of beta testers to field-test our hardware prototypes.

Please get in touch if you can assist.

GEMS Communication Proof-of-concept Pictures Released

Print PDF

We have now released proof-of-concept pictures of the Alt4 hardware initialising communications with the GEMS ECU.  The system communicates using the KWP2000 (Key Word Protocol) as defined in the ISO 14230 standard.  This is a complex procedure and the breakthrough represents a great step forward for the Alt4 project.  The tester must communicate using two baud rates, 5baud and 10400baud, via a combination of the L and K lines.

Here are a couple of thumbnails of the communications taking place:
