Gamma Communications have announced that they will be ceasing support for their Communicator hosted VoIP service.
“We’ve made the decision to take our Communicator Hosted Voice Service to end of life on 31st December 2016.
We do not take a decision like this lightly, but retiring this platform will enable us to focus on more capable, feature-rich and cost-effective alternatives to support you in future Hosted Voice customer opportunities.
As part of this initiative, we’ll be offering existing customers support in migrating customers to the Horizon Hosted Voice service.”
Any business customer still on Gamma’s Communicator hosted VoIP platform after the turn of the year will find that their service will no longer function in the new year. This leaves customer a 3-month timeframe to plan accordingly for their services to be migrated onto an alternative solution with a keen recommendation of migrating onto Gamma’s Horizon Business VoIP solution.
Who is Gamma?
Gamma Communications has formed in 2001 when acquiring Atlantic Telecom network assets. They began offering their wholesale line rental and sales began in 2002. In 2004 and they starting offering IP services and launched their broadband service. They invested greatly into their IP core network in 2006 which lead to the launch of their SIP (IPDC) interconnect. This was also the year in which Gamma Communicator hosted phone services was launched. By 2011 Gamma was listed and interconnects top 3 alternative carrier and launched their new hosted telephone system labelled Horizon. Horizon was to become their flagship hosted VoIP platform which would evidently outgrow their Communicator service over the years. Gamma Communications has since been listed on London AIM stock market and is the largest SIP provider in the UK.
